WebMelasma is a common acquired skin disorder that presents as a bilateral, blotchy, brownish facial pigmentation. This form of facial pigmentation was previously called chloasma, but as this derives from the Greek meaning ‘to become green’, the term melasma (brown skin) is preferred.
