I'm running at a scaled resolution ~2300 and it is still sharp as a tack - I can't tell a difference between scaled and "best" retina at 1920/1080. If you want a 27" retina display, this seems to fit the bill pretty well at scaled resolutions - plus you don't need any trickery to support 5k.
