Check the velocities from 4" and 6" .22 LR and ,22 Mag handgun, revolvers or pistols, and there isn't a huge difference. Of course when the barrel gets 18", and especially 24"-26", the .22 Mag really shows its stuff. Web4 Feb 2009 · I purchased a Rock Island 1911 a couple of weeks ago and find it to be very accurate and easy to handle. The problem I have is a "Failure to Feed", which is sporadic. Primarily it fails to feed on the first round coming out of the magazine. I've fed it Blazer, Speer Lawman and Winchester White Box, all 45 ACP FMJ. I will say the 22mag rd going out of the short barrel is a dragon, but recoil is almost non existent, The trigger is very smooth,almost no take up and a good crisp break.
